How to care for your knitwear to keep it beautiful year after year?

How to care for your Maille Parisienne?

At The Bichette, we have selected La Maille Parisienne, a collection made in Italy, renowned for its softness and comfort.

Its composition was designed to combine warmth, resistance and lightness:

  • 31% polyamide
  • 30% superfine alpaca
  • 28% acrylic
  • 10% wool
  • 1% elastane

With a few simple steps, your knitwear will retain all its beauty for many seasons.

Wash it as little as possible

Wool and alpaca are naturally breathable fibers that retain odors poorly. Between wears, it is often enough to let your knitwear air out for a few hours to restore its freshness.

The less it is washed, the more it will retain its original softness and shape.

Opt for delicate washing

The ideal is hand washing, in cold or lukewarm water (maximum 30 °C), with a special wool detergent.

If you prefer the machine, choose a Wool or Delicate program, with low spin (400 to 600 rpm).

Remember to protect your knitwear in a laundry bag. Otherwise, a clean pillowcase, closed with a knot or zipper, will do the trick perfectly. Also avoid washing it with jeans or clothes with zippers that could cause friction.

Dry it flat

After washing, gently press your knitwear in a towel to remove excess water, then let it dry flat.

Avoid the dryer, radiator and drying on a hanger, which could deform the fibers.

Pilling: a natural phenomenon

It is quite normal for your knitwear to show some pilling, especially during the first wears.

They appear when small natural fibers on the surface of the knit detach under the effect of friction (coat, handbag, belt or simply daily movements). These fibers then tangle together and form small balls.

This phenomenon is particularly common with noble materials such as alpaca and wool. It does not in any way call into question the quality of your garment and tends to diminish after the first wears.

To remove them, simply use a fabric shaver or a special wool comb, performing delicate movements.

Store it well

When you are not wearing it, fold your knitwear rather than hanging it to prevent it from stretching at the shoulders.

❤️ The Bichette tip

A beautiful knit is made to last. With gentle care and a few precautions, your Maille Parisienne will retain its comfort, softness and elegance winter after winter.
